Dear Parents,

In reading, we are working on the “North, South, East, West.” We are reading the selections “Me on the Map” and “Classroom Globe.” Our vocabulary words for this week are: map – one type of drawing with symbols and pictures that shows what a place looks like; state – one of many smaller areas of land that make up a country; whirl – a very fast spin; and globe – a type of map shaped like a ball. The high-frequency words are: notheir, and away. Please make sure your child reads nightly to help build fluency.

Our spelling words for this week are as follows: coat, boat, toad, slow, blow, few, flew, blew, blue, and glue. The test will be on Friday, January 18.

In math, we working on Topic 12 – Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 100.

Our math facts for this week are listed below. The quiz will be on Friday, January 18.

Dear Parents,

In reading, we are finishing the unit “What’s the Weather?” We are reading the stories “Deserts,” “Snow is Good,” and “Hurricanes.” Our vocabulary words for this week are: storing – putting away for use in the future; shivered – past tense of shiver: to shake, usually from the cold; tornado – a storm with strong winds that move in a circle and heavy rain that forms over land; shatter – to break into pieces. The high-frequency words are: day, way, sleep, don’t, my, too, came, me, and right. Please make sure your child reads nightly to help build fluency.

Our spelling words for this week are as follows: day, today, play, rain, wait, right, high, light, fly, and sky. The test will be on Friday, January 11.  

In math, we working on Topic 11 – Tens and Ones.
