October 15, 2018

Dear Parents,

In reading, we beginning the unit “I Am Responsible!” We are reading the story “Responsibility” and the poem “What Does It Mean to Be Responsible?”” in class. Our vocabulary words for this week are: responsibility – being dependable; having a job or duty; honest – truthful and fair; recycle – to return things for further use; simple – easy. The high-frequency words are: get, that, this, for, out, and jump. Please make sure your child reads nightly to help build fluency.

Our spelling words for this week are number words: for, born, more, store, this, that, then, ship, with, and wish. The test will be Friday, October 19.

In math, we working on Topic 6 – Addition Facts to 12 and Topic 7 – Subtraction Facts to 12.

Our math facts for this week are listed below. The quiz will be on Friday, October 19.

8 + 0 = 8              8 + 1 = 9              8 + 2 = 10            8 + 3 = 11

8 + 4 = 12            8 + 5 = 13            8 + 6 = 14            8 + 7 = 15

8 + 8 = 16            8 + 9 = 17            8 + 10 = 18

In language, we are working on spacing words and using capital letters.  

Lunches for the week:

Monday – Chicken and Waffle or Hotdog or Pizza or Chicken Selection
Tuesday – Hamburger or Turkey and Cheese Sub or Pizza or Chicken Selection
Wednesday – Popcorn Chicken or Salisbury Steak or Pizza or Chicken Selection
Thursday – Sloppy Joe or Chicken Fries or Pizza or Chicken Selection
Friday – Ham and Cheese Sub or Macaroni and Cheese or Pizza or Chicken Selection

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be tonight, Monday, October 15 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tonight is also Family Night at the Book Fair. The Book Fair will be October 16-19. Our class is scheduled to go Tuesday and Thursday.

Our field trip to the Crab Orchard Corn Maze is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, October 16. We will leave around 11:00 and return around 2:15.

Report cards will be distributed on Tuesday, October 23.

If you would like to send treats for the Halloween Treat Bag, there are 18 students in our class.
