Dear Parents,

We are working on the unit “Away We Grow!” We are reading the selection “How a Seed Grows.” Our vocabulary words for this week are: aside – to one side and root – the part of a plant that grows down into the ground. Please make sure your child reads nightly to help build fluency. The test on this selection will be on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

We are also reading the selections “The Garden” and “Green and Growing.” Our vocabulary words for this week are: flower – a colored blossom; quite – very; shouted – past tense of shout: to call loudly; and tight – firmly; shrub – a bush; vine – a plant that has a very long stem, can grow along the ground or up a wall; stems – plural of stem: the stalk of a flower; energy – the strength to do something. High-frequency words for this week are five and would. The test on these stories will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

We will also be working with the following spelling words: snake, tape, pale, wave, snakeskin, aim, rain, trail, afraid, and trailer. The test on these words will be on Tuesday, March 19.

Spelling words for this week are: finetimemicequitetired, dry, shy, fly, by, and crying. The test will be on Friday, April 6.

In math, we working on Topic 15 – Telling Time.

Students will be quizzed on 25 assorted math facts on Friday, March 22.

In language, we are working on changing sentences to questions and expanding sentences.

Monday – Meatloaf or Popcorn Chicken
Tuesday – Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup or Hamburger
Wednesday – Italian Meatball Sub or Oven Roasted Chicken
Thursday – Spaghetti or Turkey and Cheese Sub
Friday – Breakfast for lunch or Chicken Nuggets
