November 19, 2018

Dear Parents,

In reading, we are working on the unit “Our Neighborhood at Work.” We are reading the stories “Quinito’s Neighborhood” and “Firefighters” in class. Our vocabulary words for this week are: nurse – a person who takes care of sick people; equipment – anything that is necessary for a particular purpose; tanks – plural of tank: a large container for holding air or liquid; rescue – to save from danger. The high-frequency words are: ride, walk, we, well, make, you, go, like, and after.

Our next set of spelling words will be: time, nine, mice, vine, like, hike, dime, side, wife, and mile. The test will be Tuesday, November 20.

In math, we working on patterns.

Our next set of math facts are listed below. The quiz will be on Tuesday, November 20:

9 - 0 = 9            9 - 1 = 8          9 - 2 = 7          9 - 3 = 6

9 - 4 = 5            9 - 5 = 4          9 - 6 = 3          9 - 7 = 2

9 - 8 = 1            9 - 9 = 0          

In language, we are working on imperative sentences. An imperative sentence gives an order, a request, a demand, or a wish.

Lunches for the week:

Monday – Meatloaf or Popcorn Chicken or Pizza or Chicken Selection
Tuesday – Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Soup or Hamburger or Pizza or Chicken Selection
Wednesday – No School: Thanksgiving Break
Thursday – No School: Thanksgiving Break
Friday – No School: Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school November 21-23 for Thanksgiving break.
